Bad Beat Main Rules

The loser of the hand is paid 40%, the winner 20%, and 20% of the winning amount is shared among the other participants of the hand. 20% will be used to re-seed the bad beat. Both the losing and winning players must use both hole cards. Check full rules at the poker welcome desk.

Omaha Bad Beat

Join the Omaha Bad Beat Jackpot at Casino Royale! Win big when a high-ranking hand is beaten by an even stronger hand.
  • Minimum Qualifying Hand: Four-of-a-Kind Jacks (JJJJ or better).
  • Key Points: Minimum of four players dealt in the hand. Both winning and losing hands must use both hole cards and three community cards.
  1. The “Omaha Bad Beat Jackpot” shall apply to the game of Omaha Only.
  2. The following guidelines will apply in order for a hand to be considered for the “Bad Beat Jackpot”:
    • A minimum of four (4) players must be dealt in the hand.
    • Both the winning and losing hands must use both of their hole cards and three cards from the board.
    • For Four-of-a-Kind, both the winning and losing hand must contain a pocket pair.
  3. Meters will be increased only with funds collected in Omaha games. The Bad Beat Meter will be updated once per day. In the case of a “Bad Beat Jackpot,” what is reflected on the meter at that time will be divided among the holders of the winning and losing hands as well as all other active players at the table. The winning hand will receive twenty percent of the jackpot, the losing hand forty percent, and the rest of the table that were active in the beginning of the hand will receive twenty percent (i.e. twenty percent will be split amongst the remaining players active in that hand).
  4. “Bad Beat” means a high-ranking poker hand that is beat by a higher-ranking hand. The Bad Beat jackpot is paid out when a minimum hand of four-of-a-kind J’s (JJJJ) are beaten by a higher hand.
  5. Table Games supervisory personnel will verify the players’ hand qualifies for the “Bad Beat Jackpot.”
  6. Table Games supervisory personnel will reset the “Bad Beat Jackpot” meter to the reserve amount after the winning hand has been verified. The reserve amount equals twenty percent of the last paid Bad Beat Hand.
  7. In the event two or more tables qualify for the “Bad Beat Jackpot” at the same time, the jackpot will be equally split between each table.
  8. All winning hands must be left exposed on the layout until Table Games supervisory personnel remove the deck(s) of cards from the table.
  9. A player who removes his/her chips from the game prior to a showdown on a hand where a jackpot is won forfeits the right to any prize money.
    • If a player walks away from the game and he/she was in the hand at the beginning, he/she will retain the right to the share of the jackpot if a jackpot hand occurs.
  10. All “Bad Beat Jackpot” winnings will be paid from the Cashier Cage.
    • Winner will be responsible for all taxes if any is due.
    • All prizes are final. No substitution or transfer of prize(s) permitted.
  11. Under all circumstances, the decision of Poker Management is FINAL.

Texas Hold'em Bad Beat Progressive Jackpot

  • Minimum Qualifying Hand: Aces full of Kings (AAAKK or better).
  • Key Points: High hand payouts increase daily. The loser is paid 40%, the winner 20%, and 20% is shared among the other participants. Both losing and winning players must use both hole cards.
  1. The game of Texas Hold’em can be played with a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 10 players.
  2. The game consists of the following steps:
    • Each player is dealt two private cards (known as “hole cards”) that belong to them alone.
    • Five community cards are dealt face-up on the “board.”
    • All players in the game use these shared community cards in conjunction with their own hole cards to each make their best possible five-card poker hand.
  3. The game proceeds as follows:
    • Pre-Flop: After seeing their hole cards, each player has the option to play their hand by calling or raising the big blind or folding.
    • Flop: Three community cards are dealt face-up on the board. Another round of betting ensues.
    • Turn: A fourth community card is dealt face-up on the board. Another round of betting ensues.
    • River: A fifth and final community card is dealt face-up on the board. A final round of betting ensues.
    • Showdown: If more than one player remains after the final betting round, the remaining players reveal their hole cards, and the player with the best five-card hand wins the pot.
  4. Betting limits can vary:
    • Limit Texas Hold’em: There is a pre-determined betting limit on each round of betting.
    • No Limit Texas Hold’em: A player can bet any amount, up to all of their chips.
    • Pot Limit Texas Hold’em: A player can bet any amount, up to the size of the pot.
  5. Hand Rankings: The standard poker hand rankings apply in Texas Hold’em, with Royal Flush being the highest and High Card being the lowest.
  6. The dealer position rotates clockwise after each hand.
  7. Blinds and antes:
    • Blinds: The two players to the left of the dealer post small and big blinds to initiate betting.
    • Antes: In some games, all players post an ante before the hand is dealt.
  8. Players can fold, call, raise, or check during their turn.
  9. If all but one player folds, the remaining player wins the pot without having to show their cards.
  10. If a showdown occurs, the player with the best hand wins the pot.
  11. In the case of a tie, the pot is split equally among the winning players.
